When I say I write books for boys, I always include the addition “(and other reluctant readers)” part. I don’t want to exclude anyone who struggles with reading, or with finding a book they enjoy, from reading my books. But what I do want to do is try and make books for boys who are like me when I was growing up. I thought I hated reading, until I found the right books.

With that said, I know some of the “arguments” out there about boys and reading. While I’m not here to go back-and-forth with those arguments, I do hold my ground. Boys struggle to read more than girls. Boys think they don’t like reading more than girls. Below are a few links to articles that discuss this topic.
