Hello there, I’m Ronald P. Tucker. I’m an author and illustrator of novels and comics.
Growing up I always thought I hated reading, despite being a very good reader (if I do say so myself). The problem wasn’t that I hated reading, it was that I couldn’t find the books that interested me enough to pick them up and read.
That doesn’t mean I wasn’t reading though. I was reading comic strips. And comic books! Garfield, Peanuts, and Calvin and Hobbes were my go to comic strips. Spider-Man and Batman were my go-to comic books.
This went on for a while until I finally found books that I thought were awesome. Which in turn sparked my desire to find other books like what I was reading.
From a young age I also loved drawing. And once I learned you can put words and pictures together and make that a career? Well, I’ve been trying to do that ever since.
But more important than wanting to tell and draw stories, I really want to create stories for boys like me when I was younger. Boys who couldn’t find books they liked or hold their attention and made them think they didn’t like reading. Of course, if girls are reluctant readers they are more than welcomed to my books as well. I just mention boys because it’s been well documented, for many years now, that boys have trouble either reading or finding enjoyment in books.
So if you’re a parent, grandparents, guardian, teacher, library, or anyone else out there looking for books for the reluctant reader in your life, I hope one of my books might be the trick to helping make a new fan of reading.
